Lifestyle, media and technology Students discuss which sports they participate in, describing winning and injuries that people might sustain. They then move on to describing what their personal interests are in terms of technology and media, having debates about the pros and cons of cinema. Students practise and refine their ability to communicate in three time frames by making plans and describing a recent party.
My personal world Students revise and build on previous work around describing their family and traditions at home. We describe what we do with our friends and relationships between friends and family members and different types of relationships. Students discuss how we can make a better world through our actions and current inequalities and discrimination that exists.
Lifestyle and wellbeing Students discuss mental health and how to improve it, including in the context of school. We discuss food and healthy living in the context of being an athlete and taking part in Masterchef. We also examine the differences between British gastronomy and that of French-speaking countries. Finally, we examine fashion trends and how fast fashion and influencers play a role in our lives. |
Studying and my future Students discuss school life and the problems that might arise at school. We look back at school life from the perspective of a retired person and describe it using the past tense. We also discuss our aspirations for the future and new skills that we might learn.
Travel and tourism Students imagine a holiday and describe what it would be like and reviews we might leave for our accommodation. We compare methods of transport and problems that we have on holiday.
Revision of topics covered Students have ample time to revisit the thematic contexts covered in Year 10 and embed our knowledge through further use in all four skill areas. We also prepare ourselves for the end of year mock examinations.

My Studies Students learn to discuss their subject preferences in greater detail, using a range of comparatives and superlatives.
Life at School Students describe what they do in the wider school context, bringing together vocabulary and structures from previous units to discuss activities inside and outside of school. Students describe their ideal school, as well as rules.

Education Post-16 Students discuss plans for after Year 11. Differences between the British and French systems are discussed and compared.
Work & Future Plans We explore the world of work and discuss possible jobs and careers that we might wish to have, as well as different places of work. We discuss parents’ professions and make comparisons between different roles.
