At Nuneaton Academy, pupils will study a variety of religious and non-religious world views. Pupils will learn the beliefs, teachings and practices from the perspective of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, atheism and humanism. Pupils will gain an understanding of how those views impact the world they themselves inhabit from a local, national and global perspective.

The purpose of the curriculum is to help pupils develop a passion for the subject by equipping them with knowledge in order to debate and discuss ethical, moral and philosophical issues. Pupils should be able to understand and appreciate the reasons that underpin religious teaching and non-religious views.

Religious Studies is an academic discipline that has many links to other subjects, such as History, English and Science and transferable skills that will enhance their experience outside of school or in the workplace.

Religious Studies can lead to a variety of careers, such as: archivist, advice and guidance, broadcasting, civil service, counselling, health care, human resources, law, psychology, politics, social work, teaching, writer or youth work.
