A team of dedicated Nuneaton Academy staff have successfully completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours and raising just under £3,500 for Mary Ann Evans Hospice thanks to the generosity of our school and wider community.
Nuneaton Academy is incredibly proud of a team of staff who have successfully completed the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton.
On 24th May, the group took on the demanding endurance event, which challenges participants to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Their determination and teamwork saw them summit Ben Nevis, followed by Scafell Pike, and finally Snowdon, covering 23 miles and an ascent of 3,064 metres in under a day.
Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and members of the school community, the team raised just under £3,500 for Mary Ann Evans Hospice. Representatives from the charity visited the academy this week, where staff proudly presented the funds.
In the lead‑up to the challenge, the team’s efforts were shared in assemblies focused on Resilience and the academy’s Charity Weeks, giving students the chance to feel part of the journey and take inspiration from their teachers’ commitment.
Reflecting on the experience, staff member Jon Parker said:
“What an honour, privilege and inspiration this event was. We all really pushed ourselves and supported one another throughout the tough moments and, in the process, managed to raise thousands of pounds for a very worthwhile cause. I loved every minute!”
Another member of the team, Chris Jupe, added:
“A huge well done to all my colleagues who completed this challenge. They were amazing and I count myself lucky to have been a part of the experience.”
Sally, from Mary Ann Evans Hospice, shared her thanks:
“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Nuneaton Academy who took on the 3 Peaks Challenge, raising vital funds for Mary Ann Evans Hospice. As we celebrate our 35th year, we have been asking our community to stand with us to help secure the future of local hospice care. From all at Mary Ann, we are incredibly grateful for your support and dedication and would like to offer our congratulations for raising £2,740.”
Principal Mark Dalton praised the team’s achievement:
“Very many congratulations to our team of staff who successfully completed this highly impressive challenge. We are all so proud of what they were able to achieve and I know that their strength and determination has served as fantastic inspiration to our young people.
Thank you also to all those across our school and local communities who donated to this cause. Mary Ann Evans Hospice holds particular significance for us at Nuneaton Academy, with several of our staff members connected to the charity’s work and volunteering efforts so we are incredibly pleased and proud to be able to lend our support to them.”
