As your child explores their interests and strengths, it’s important to start thinking about possible career paths. Encourage open conversations about what they enjoy and where their skills shine. Our school is here to support students with guidance and resources to help them plan for a successful future.

The programme is rooted in the school’s core values of our Nuneaton Spirit, which underpins our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals ready to thrive in the modern world.

A secondary school careers programme should consist of a variety of activities and resources designed to help students understand and plan for their future. 

Here are some key components that we include on our Careers offer:

• Gain insight into the labour market, future opportunities, and a wide range of career pathways (including subject-linked routes)
• Feel confident and well prepared to make informed post-16 decisions 
• Build employability and essential life skills for life beyond school 
• Engage with employers and HE/FE providers through talks, apprenticeship insights, and other experiences 

We align our careers curriculum with the CDI (Career Development Institute) Framework, supporting pupils in building the competencies and cultural capital needed for success.

We also use Unifrog, a careers destination platform to further enhance pupils understanding of careers. 

Firstly:
Providing career learning as a subject in its own right through our CAIEG interviews, assemblies and Vision and Values sessions.
We also do this through our tutor programme and our Careers curriculum.

Secondly:
Incorporating career learning within all subjects.
We do this through our Career profiles and displays that ignite conversations; through Unifrog, my path videos, Focus weeks such as Career’s week.
Employability skills in lessons that link to the learning.

Thirdly:
Organising career learning through extra-curricular activities.
We do this through events and opportunities such as Science; Stem on track and Medical mavericks, Geography; Twycross Zoo speaker; PE; Trips to sporting events; Careers week assemblies etc, Uni trips, events such as Employer encounters.

• Please talk to your child about their career interests, if they do not know what they would like to do focus on developing their work ready skills through activities, hobbies, and interests.
• Look through the careers section on this website. You will find a lot of information about careers and information for parents and pupils to support career development.
• Take advantage of the many employer encounters offered during the year, sometimes a visit out of school can motivate and provide pupils with direction in their career planning.
• Contact the school if you need support of any aspects of careers, or if you can support the school careers programme.
